Prior to the description of fossil fishes, a brief introduction is also given about corresponding skeletons or bony parts of the modern representative of the group under consideration. II. On late Mesozoic fish fauna from Xinjiang (Sinkiang), China A great number of fossil fishes described in this paper were collected from Northern Xinjiang by the writer and his colleagues of the IVPP, and the field Parties of the Bureau of Petroleum of Xinjiang. All the materials, consisting of several hundreds of specimens, were discovered from about twenty localities. Almost all of them were collected from the Shengchinkow formation of Tugulu group (Lower Cretaceous) of Junggar (Dsungaria) and Turpan (Turfan) Basins (table 1), and are assigned to six new genera and nine new species. Five genera of them belong to a new family-Siyuichthyidae (Order pholidophoriformes), the other one genus attributes to the the suborder palaeoniscoidei. Besides materials mentioned above, there are also nine specimens collected from the Chiku formation (M.-U.Jurassic) of Junggar Basin are refered to a new genus of the family Phoridophoridae.
