This is a comprehensive work published in one volume on culicine mosquitoes of Guizhou Province. The author has reviewed most, if not all the reports and papers since about half a century ago and worked for ten years in collecting and studying the local mosquitoes. As a result, there is recorded in this volume a total of 83 species of culicine mosquitoes which belong to 11 genera, i.e. Toxorhynchites of the subfamily Toxorhynchitinar and Aedes, Armigeres, Culex, Culiseta, Ficalbia, Heizmannia, Orthopodomyia, Topomyia, Tripteroides and Uranotaenia of subfamily Culicinae.

Keys are provided for each genus for easy identification, and full descriptions are given for adults and larvae of each species based on specimens collected from this Province by the author. The pupae of some species are also studied. The taxonomic positions of some species are discussed. Their distribution, bionomics and medical importance are also recorded. There are 33 text figures and 83 plates of line drawings to show accurately the adults and larvae for each species which would provide an easy reference for students and professionals.
