This book shows parts of research results of several projects, i.g., geological research of INDEPTH-III project sponsored by the former Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources of China, geological survey at scale 1: 250000 of Damxung area in central Tibet financially supported by China Geological Survey, exploration of active faults and geological hazards along the Golmud-Lhasa Railway sponsored by Ministry of Railway of Land and Resources of China, and study on neotectonics and crust activity of the Tibetan Plateau financially supported by Ministry of Science and Technology of China.

 

Tectonic research during geological survey of central Tibet at scale 1: 250000 got many important discoveroes, such as the 18.3 ~ 11.1 Ma Nyainqentanglha granite extending more than 100km exposed in the Tibetan Plateau, the huge Namco Lake and active faults in Damxung-Yangbajain graben etc.
