Mainland China is situated at the eastern edge of the Eurasian seismic system and is the largest intracontinental region of shallow strong earthquakes in China.
Based on nine earthquakes with magnitudes ranging between 7.0 and 7.9, the book provides observational data and discusses successes and failures of earthquakes prediction.
Derived from individual earthquakes, observations of various phenomena and seismic activities occurring before and after earthquakes, led to the establishing of some general characteristics valid for earthquake prediction.
