Porcelain discoveries in Shandong lasted from Shang and Zhou eras when proto-porcelains appear to subsequent periods through the Ming and Qing when porcelains were produced. Some ceramics from outside Shandong and others were local products. From the Northern Dynasties period it is evident from kiln, tomb and hoard finds that exquisite porcelains were not lacking in Shandong porcelain finds. The porcelains production at the kilns in Shandong had a long and continuous history, and represents tration of kilns, rich resources, and adequate water supply. The last 1400 years of porcelain production in Shandong continues to reflect a development representing many eras of success in technique and craftsmanship, era that inspired excellence for generations. The ancient cultures of Shandong have left a profound mark on the development of Chinese cultures and civilization.
