【Introduction】

This book studies Gansu Landslide Calamities. Based on the geological conditions of landslide development, it offers an overall systematic summary of types, features, development extent, distribution law and factors affecting it, and explores the serious landslide calamities in the project construction in city, transportation, water conservancy and miming. This book deeply analyzes the features and forming mechanism of landslide of all types through illustration of typical landslides. It does special research in promoting sliding effect caused by seasonal freezing backwater, the mechanism of high-speed, long-distance landslide colliding acceleration, major secondary disasters caused by landslides, predictions and forecast of occurrence time, landslides caused by precipitation in loess area and the development and utilization of landslides. This book puts forward some new viewpoints, theories and approaches, which will promote the prevention and control of landslides and serve the economic construction in Gansu. This is the first book on Gansu landslide research features, the detailed data and content of which have theoretical meaning and practical value.
