About 700 species and subspecies subspecies soil darkling beetles belonging to 24 tribes of 3 subfamilies are known from China. They will be treated in 4 volumes of a monograph. The present volume described 137 species and subspecies belonging to 18 genera in 4 tribes. Total 108 portraits and 134 character figures are illustrated. This volume comprises of two parts. Part 1 is a brief account on research history, general morphology, classificatory systems, biology and economical, faunistics of the soil darkling beetles, phylogenetic relationship of the tentyriforms, fauna and geogegraphical distribution of the tentyriforms. Henning 86 program is used for cladistic analysis of Scytosoma Reitter and Tentyriini. Part 2 is the systematic account of the Chinese tentyriform. Altogether 137 species and subspecies belong to 18 genera in 4 tribes are described and keyed, among which 10 new species and 5 species which are newly recorded in China.
