Guizhou province is situated in southwest China and covers 176,000 square kilometers. Mountains and plateaus make up some 65% of Guizhou's topography. The terrain is rugged, with karst formations, underground rivers, jagged peaks, dramatic valleys, and terraced rice fields. The Guizhou Plateau, 1000 to 1400 meters (m) in elevation, lies to the east of the higher Yunnan Plateau and to the south of the Changjiang (Yangtze) River. Mountains here consist of steep hills, and isolated pinnacles deeply dissected by river valleys. The area is riddled with caves and sinkholes, and many local rivers are partially subterranean. The porous substrate, and mild, cloudy weather (more than 200 overcast days per year) account for the distinctive ecology of the ecoregion.

There are known 1611 species of Bryophytes in Guizhou. It consists of 46.56% total species of China. This book is a part of "Bryophytes of Guizhou" . It records 359 common species belonging to 70 families,with high quality color photographs to each species. Chinese name and Latin name index attached.

 中国大陆第一本野外微距实拍摄的全彩色图志——《贵州苔藓植物图志》（习见种卷）于2011年6月由贵州科技出版社正式出版了。该图志是“贵州苔藓植物志”的而一个部分，编辑了贵州习见的苔藓植物70科359种。并对收录的种类作了形态、生境和分布作了描述。
