干旱化已经成为当前人类面临的重大环境问题之一。我国西部干旱区面积占全国陆地面积的40%。在我国由于各类气象灾害造成的粮食损失中,以干旱造成的损失最为严重,约占50%以上。更为严重的是,以气候变暖为标志的全球环境变化亦将加剧水资源的短缺及与此相关联的干旱化,从而必将对我国社会经济及生存环境生产严重的影响。 本书基于近年来沿着水分驱动的中国东北样带分布的典型陆地生态系统的野外测与模拟研究,试图探讨干旱化、人类活动与陆地生态系统相互作用,以期初步阐明干旱化、人类活动在植物的生理生态特征、个体、群落、生态系统、景观以至区域尺度上的反应,为进一步深入探讨提高生态系统水分利用效率,充分发挥生态系统的水分调节功能提供一些方法与技术方面的启示。
