The Pictorial Book of Mushrooms of China consists of three parts. The first part provides scientific information on mushrooms of China including their taxa, biological characters and economic importance. The second part lists 1089 species of mushrooms known in China with 2166 photos and gives a description for each species, including its specimen data (collection locality, altitude, vegetation, growth substrate, field number and collection number), known distribution areas, economic significance and chemical composition. The third part contains a table of amino acid contents of hydrolyzing proteins from 359 species of wild mushrooms, a table of the known 39 triterpenoids and 23 polysaccharide compounds from Wolfiporia cocos, a table of the known 112 triterpenoids from Ganoderma spp., a table of the known 29 compounds from volatile oil and 58 compounds from ethyl acetate extracts of Dictyophora echinovolvata, a table of the known 22 peptide toxins from Amanita and their chemical structures, as well as references and index for Latin-Chinese names of the mushrooms.
