“The 2nd International Symposium on Development Within Geoparks—Environmental Protection and Education” is going to be held in Lushan of Jiangxi Province, China on June 12～15, 2007. the Symposium is co-organized by Lushan Global Geopark Administration Committee, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences (CAGS) and Geological Society of China with the aim of pushing foreword the cooperation and researches of global geoparks, strengthening the ties among geoparks in various countries and regions and making GGN play even greater role.

Compared with the 1st Symposium last year, it is more encouraging that over 300 people have registered for “the 2nd International Symposium on Development within Geoparks”, who are from 19 countries and regions with wider representativeness, and the number and quality of the received papers are also greatly increased and improved, with more achievements in the scientific research on the geoparks.
