《滇南本草(第2卷)》是我国一部著名的用中文写成的地区性本草，流传甚广，并被以后许多本草书籍引用。用少数民族文字写的地区性本草较多，多数是建国后才发掘整理，并译成中文。这些整理本的特点除部分药物不清楚外，对每种药物都附有拉丁学名、形态描述、植物绘图及药物功用。
