Flowering Plants of Hengduan Mountains本书拟通过图文并茂的方式介绍横断山区，特别是本区高海拔地区种子植物1000种左右。书中为物种所配图片为本研究组（高山植物多样性研究组）近10年的积累，确保照片准确、精美。每个物种配以拉丁学名和中文正式名称、关键特征描述以及生境和分布信息。文字描述采用中英双语。
Region- This book uses Bing-yuan Li's (1987) definition on the range of Hengduan Mountains (HDM): the north boundary is in Nangqian- Sertar-maqu-jiuzhaigou; The west boundary is nearby Riwoq-zayi-tengchong; South boundary in Longling-nanjian-xiaguan-lijiang-yanyuan: East boundary in Wenxian-dujiangyan-luding- Yanyuan. In terms of administrative divisions, it includes all Nujiang and Diqing in Yunnan Province, part of Dali, Lijiang and Baoshan in Yunnan Province, nearly all Ngawa and Ganze in Sichuan Province, part of Liangshan, part of Ya 'an, most of Qamdo in Xizang Province, and a small part of Qinghai and Gansu Province
Taxa - the taxa included in this book are representative and common flowering plants from the HDM and adjacent areas
Arrangement - Families and genera are arranged according to APG I system.
Names - Mainly refers to Flora of China. Some important databases of plant names(such as IPNI and Tropicos)were checked, including some novel taxa that published in recent years. Synonyms appeared in Vascular Plants of Hengduan Moutain (ome I and hme ) were listed.
Descriptions - the descriptions in Chinese and English are mainly based on Flora Reipublicae Popularis Sinicae and Flora of China. Some plants are observed by the authors. Literatures were listed for some latest taxa names and descriptions . This book first describes the characteristics of the genus, and then gives a brief description for the species. For a more detailed description, please consult for the original literature. The genus and species are mainly arranged alphabetically by scientific names.
For some large genera in this region, this book gives a preliminary key, followed by an alphabetical arrangement for the species. Please note that the key works only for the species involved in this book. For distribution, the provinces wiithin the range of HDM are listed first, followed by other provinces and regions in China, and the foreign
regions are listed last.
