Fauna Sinica Invertebrata Vol.57 Mollusca Bivalvia Tellinidae Semelidae,The present volume deals with the Tellinidae and Semelidae(Mollusca: Bivalvia) fauna of the China seas. There is a total of 117 species, with 95 belonging to Tellinidae and 22 belonging to Semelidae. Among them. five species, Elpidollina mai sp. nov, Nitidotellina sinica sp. nov. Cadella orientalia sp. nov.. Cadella liui sp. nov.. Montrouzieria quadrata sp nov, are new to science. Specimens are mainly based on the collection housed in the Institut of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Qingdao, China. This volume consists of two parts: The first part is a general account including a Istorical review, morpho logy, ecology, geographical distribution, and economical importance of both families. The second part is a systematic description of morphological cha geographical distribution, and ecology of each species .There are 15 color plates, 42 distribution maps, and 8 text figures in this volume
