The Caiyuan Village in the north of ,Mount Nanhua,which is 15 kilometers from the west of Haiyuan county, Ningxia.its geographical coordinates is in north latitude 36°32′,east longitude 105°33′,and 1800 meters
Above sea level. It is the typical loess karstlanform,which is full of gullies and ridges .It is in the north temperate zone senu-arid climate area,with then low temperature, strong wind and heavy blowing sand. The annual rainfall is less than 300mm,only ibe season anti-arid crops can be panted
The Outstanding culture characters of Caiyuan relics and utensils from excavation can be seen in following aspects: 1. there are many varieties of houses, the cave style and the semi-crypt style. 2. the burying custom is unique, and the burying system was very complicated.3. the ancestors production form and environment were closely related.4. the handicraft industry was simple, mainly was the pottery industry.
