This collection is mainly edited on the basis of the International Symposium of Genetic Mineralogy Related with Resources, Environment and Life held in 2002 in Beijing. The orientation of mineralogical studies in the 21st century is closely concerned by mineralogists all over the world. On the junction of the 20th and 21st centuries, several important mineralogical meetings have been held. Among of them, the 30th and 31st IGC in Beijing and Rio de Janeriro, the 17th IMA in Edinburgh and others have conveyed information that mineralogists are continually pursuing deep studies in the frontiers of various mineralogical branches, and mineralogy is still guiding the prospecting of original mineral resources. In addition, the solving mineralogical problems concerning human being’s livelihood and living environment. These unfurled that genetic-prospecting mineralogy and environmental-vital mineralogy are among the frontiers for mineralogical investigation in the 21st century.
