This book introduces the knowledges of biology, ecology as well as the folklore of Mantodes. In the systematic aspect, the book mainly adopted the classification system suggested by Beier(1964) and those proposed by Chopard(1949), in addition to selecting the primary superfamily system suggested by Vickery and Kevan in 1983.
On the basis of the materials checked by the author and the former literature records, there are 112 species and subspecies of mantids to be known to China up till the present moment, which are belonging to 8 families, 19 subfamilies as well as genera respectively.
