Biodiversity of Jilin Province(Funga Flora Fauna) Fauna Suborder Oribatida Volume (Arachnida: Acari)As one of the main groups of soil animals, oribatid mites (Acari, Sarcoptiformes, Oribatida) have abundant species and individuals throughout the world. Oribatid mites are known to occur all over the world wherever there is decaying organic matter, and comprise a numerically important faunal component of the soil habitats. They play an important role in mechanical fragmentation of organic matter in soil, and they are an excellent group for studying biodiversity and zoogeography. Up to year 2021, 11325 species (subspecies ) in 1306 genera in 162 families have been described all over the world. In China, a total of 858 species (subspecies ) in 307 genera, representing 101 families have been reported.
