The Flora of Hong Kong ,to be published in four volumes , cover the seed plants occur in the Hong Kong .The Flora have been prepared based on historical as well as recent herbarium specimens from Hong Kong and is meant to be an entiredly new work rather than merely a revision of the two previous Flora, Flora Hongkongensis(1861)and
Hongkong(1912).The taxa treated in the Flora include all native and naturalized flora as well as the introduced specis that are common and established in the Hong Kong, such as some ornamental plants , landscape trees or species used in afforestation or cultivation. The family sequence of the Flora follows the system developed by Kubitzki(1990)for Gymnosperms and that of Cronquist (1988)for Angiosperms.
The first volume treats 10 families in Gymnosperms and 75 families of Magnoliidae(Dicotyledons)in Angiosperms. The families covered in Volume one and those to be covered in the subsequence volumes are given in the Index to Families in the Flora of Hong Kong.
