The important research results of Asian geosciences—General Geomorphic Map of Land and Sea of Asia and Surroundings and Plate Morphotectonic Map of Asia and Surroundings, as well as its matching monograph An Outline of Asia’s Geomorphic Sphere and Its Plate Morphotectonics, have been developed successfully,and will publish openly. This project which has taken 18 years is funded jointly by National Natural Science Foundation of China, Department of Basic Research, Ministry of Science and Technology of China, Russian Foundation for Basic Research, and sponsored by Nanjing Institute of Geography and Limnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

General Geomorphic Map of Land and Sea of Asia and Surroundings is the first international intercontinental Geomorphic Map under the guidance of Tectonic activity theory. This map not only expresses the causes of Internal and external force landform using color difference, but also distinguishes land and sea tectonic geomorphology categories among “class, order, family”, 3 levels, besides showing 36 basic types of Morphotectonics construction using bottom colours and symbols, such as intercontinental main block mountain, folded mountain—Plait broken hill， platform and volcano, as well as geologic age formed by geologic age and marginal sea, and plate stress type between trench, island arc and continental shelf. External force landform is also shown by bottom colours and symbols, for example 11 types of eolian landforms including Dunes, salon, and gobi, as well as River, lake, sea landforms and ice accretion, loess landforms. The attached map Climatic Geomorphologic Map of Asia describes the research of relationship between climatic change, tectonic movement and modern external force landform since Cenozoic.
